Amoxicillin is one of the famous types of drugs collectively called Penicillin. Branded as Amoxil, it is an antibiotic drug used to treat infections like tonsillitis, pneumonia, ear infections, bronchitis, urinary tract infections, gonorrhea, and infections of the skin. The drug comes in a variety of forms: capsules, chewable tablets, liquid, and pediatric drops administered orally.

Amoxil is usually taken every 8 hours (three times a day). Liquid Amoxil (including drops for children) should be shaken well before use. Amoxil tablets should be crushed or chewed thoroughly before swallowing. The capsules should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Amoxil should be stored away from direct light and sources of heat. The medicine must be stored out of the reach of children.

Some possible Amoxil side effects are serious like severe or bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps. In such a case, the patients must seek immediate medical assistance. Other Amoxil side effects that demand discontinuing the drug include: allergic reaction (shortness of breath, closing of the throat, swelling of facial parts or tongue, hives and/or rash, or fainting), seizures, and unusual bleeding and/or bruising. Less serious side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal pain, yeast infections (of tongue or vagina), and sore mouth or tongue. Some other side effects may also occur.

A missed dose of Amoxil should be skipped if it is almost the time for the next dose. Two doses shouldn’t be taken together or in close succession. Amoxil overdose may cause severe or bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps, in which case immediate medical help must be called. Pregnant and breastfeeding women and those with allergies, kidney, stomach, and/or intestinal diseases should consult their doctor before taking Amoxil.

Patients can buy Amoxil now online from e-drugstores. One can also buy generic Amoxil (Amoxicillin) online.
